Our Mission

Blind Turtle Productions is the film and documentary division of the tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Brats Without Borders, operating since 1999.

Our mission is to create film, art, and educational programming that educates, illuminates, and provides hope - including programming designed to advance education and science, lessen national and neighborhood tensions, eliminate prejudice and discrimination, defend human and civil rights, and explore the unique subculture of military “brats” (i.e., children raised in military families) and other “third culture kids” (e.g., children who spend a portion of their youth outside their country of citizenship, primarily due to their parent(s) careers with diplomatic services, international corporations, educational organizations, and other groups).

The Legend of the Blind Turtle

According to Buddhist teachings, the odds of being born human (as opposed to an animal) are as rare as a blind turtle swimming to the ocean’s surface once every hundred years and lifting its head through a golden yoke at the very moment the yoke randomly floats by on the waves.

In return for this precious gift, each human has the duty to cultivate compassion and wisdom in their lives, and do all that is possible to make the world a better place.

If they can, help others.

If that’s not possible, then at least refrain from harming them.

If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.
